Palliative Care Consultation

Palliative Care Consultation services address the physical, emotional and spiritual suffering of patients living with chronic and complex illnesses. Palliative Care is provided by physicians and nurse practitioners to enhance quality of life, optimize function, relieve symptoms, and support decision-making.

Whereas hospice care is for people coping with the last stage of life, palliative care can be offered at any time in the course of a patient's illness and can be simultaneously delivered with any curative therapies.

How do patients benefit?
Palliative care is a holistic approach to meeting the unique needs of patients with advanced illnesses. Our Palliative Care specialists partner with physicians to help alleviate patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual problems that may surround their diagnosis, with the goal of enhancing their quality of life.

Why Do Physicians Refer Patients for a Palliative Care Consult?
Physicians with seriously ill patients who either require complex pain and symptom management, or need a more intensive level of communication, can refer to our palliative care specialists. Palliative care services offer attending physicians time, support, and expertise that lead to satisfied patients.
