Armandina Cates of Marbelhead (l.) had her vitals checked by PHC's Nancy Linsley, RN, at the Boston Heart Party held on April 14, 2004 at the Ipswich Council on Aging

Partners Home Care (PHC) will be joining the party—the Boston Heart Party—a campaign to raise awareness of the risks of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women. PHC, along with Pfizer, Inc., area employers and other health care providers, will offer free cardiovascular risk factor screenings for women, their families, friends and loved ones aged thirty-five years and older throughout the Greater Boston area.

CVD is the leading cause of death among American women and men. Since the inception of the Boston Heart Party in 1999, 20,000 women and men have taken advantage of free screenings to check their blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose, as well as the opportunity to discuss their individual profiles and screening results one-on-one with a health care professional.

This year's Boston Heart Party kicked off its screening program on March 18th, and the campaign will run through Mother's Day, May 9th. For more information about the Boston Heart Party and a list of screening sites, visit www.bostonheartparty.com.
