There was everything from togas to tank tops at Partners Home Care's 6th Annual Halloween Hustle Road Race, Walk and Kid's Fun Run. After last year's soggy race, the weather angels this year provided sun and crisp temperatures that helped attract over 700 runners and walkers eager to raise funds to support PHC's pediatric services. This year, the pediatric program of PHC is expected to serve close to 6,000 infants, children and adolescents under the age of 18 suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease through 29,000 in-home visits. In addition, the Maternal-Infant program of PHC provides family-centered, in-home care to expectant families and those with newborns. The October 25th event, which raised close to $30,000, would not have been possible without the support of sponsors who donated money, raffle prizes and products. Maserati of New England, the official car sponsor, led the runners through the course. In addition to being a sponsor, Newton-Wellesley Hospital sent many volunteers and a team of runners, and WBMX (Mix 98.5) supplied music, games and prizes. For the post-race celebration, participants feasted on yogurt donated by Stonyfield Farm, cookies and water from Shaw's Supermarkets/Star Market, bagels and fruits from Whole Foods Market, Krispy Kreme donuts and snack food from FritoLay. Other major sponsors included: About Women by Women Our sponsors, runners, walkers and volunteers helped make this event a success, but more importantly, their support assisted PHC in fulfilling its goal of providing home health care to our youngest patients. ©2003 Partners Home Care, Inc.
