PHC President Marcia Reissig with Xavier Zee, a patient
of PHC's Maternal-Child program. This was a record-breaking year for Partners Home Care's 8th Annual Halloween Hustle 5K Road Race. The event attracted 800 runners and walkers who raised more than $32,000 for PHC's Pediatric and Maternal-Infant programs. Co-presented by the Heartbreak Hill Striders Running Club and hosted by AstraZeneca in Waltham, MA, the event featured a number of special guests, including Randy Price, news anchor from WHDH-TV Channel 7 News, State Representative Peter Koutoujian and Partners Home Care patients Maddie and Xavier. Nate Jenkins, from Lowell, MA, broke the all-time Halloween Hustle record with a time of 14:37. The event generated public awareness of PHC's home care programs that help women with high-risk pregnancies, mothers and their newborns, and children experiencing medical challenges. "Many of the children we care for are battling serious illnesses such as cancer, and chronic conditions like diabetes and asthma, while others are recovering from serious accidents," said Marcia Reissig, President of Partners Home Care. "We are very grateful for the support we receive through the Halloween Hustle. Proceeds from the event will subsidize un-reimbursed healthcare costs, and allow us to purchase portable medical equipment that will enable us to care for children in the comfort of their homes." PHC provides 13,000 home care visits to more than 10,000 medically fragile patients and their families throughout the year. Our sponsors, runners, walkers and volunteers helped make this event a success, but more importantly, their support assisted PHC in fulfilling its goal of providing home health care to our youngest patients.
