Tee-Off Raises Funds to Support Partners Home Care

The clouds threatened but the sun finally won out as 188 golfers geared up for Partners Home Care's 10th Anniversary Tee-Off held at Waverly Oaks Golf Club and the adjacent Cross Winds Golf Club in Plymouth. "Because of this year's overwhelming response, we had to use two courses," said Marcia Reissig, President of Partners Home Care (PHC). "Having too many golfers—what a wonderful problem!"

The golfers enjoyed their time on the links, but they all knew they were playing for a good cause. Proceeds from the tournament, which included silent and live auctions and a raffle, assist the home health agency in providing services to patients regardless of their income or means of payment. "As a non-profit visiting nurse agency, we have always cared for patients regardless of their ability to pay," said Marcia Reissig. "The money raised from this event and other fundraising activities helps us provide quality, skilled health care to sick and disabled patients in the familiar surroundings of home."

The tournament raised a record $175,000 through registration fees, the auctions, raffle, and sponsorships from major corporations. The top level sponsors were: CitiGroup, Fleet Bank, J. P. Morgan, Fruit Center Marketplace, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, State Street Corporation and State Street Global Advisors. Many merchants also donated gifts for the silent and live auctions that took place during the dinner hour.

Joe Carrabes, Chris Perkins, Chris Ray, and Peter Krug of Putnam Investments took 1st place with a score of 57, but no-one went home with the hole in one prizes—a 2003 Chevy Trail Blazer courtesy of Walter Earl Chevrolet, and a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle from Quirk Mazda Volkswagen.

During the presentations there was an eloquent address by John Grady, Principal at State Street Global Advisors. Grady told the participants how much home health services had meant to his late wife Meg, who at the age of 54 was able to receive care at home in her final days following a courageous battle with cancer. He said the visiting nurses were there every step of the way to support his whole family during a most difficult time in their lives.

"The golf tournament is always a fun way to have a real and positive impact on so many people," said Reissig. "We couldn't do what we do without the charitable support we receive from events like the Annual Tee-Off."
