Bringing Care Home

PHC Showcased at NAHC Conference

(WALTHAM, MA, October 9, 2009)Partners Home Care will be showcasing two of its innovative programs at the Annual Meeting of the National Association of Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) to be held next week in Los Angeles, California.

On October 12, Kathy Duckett, director of Clinical Programs, PHC, will present, “A New Model: An Innovative Wound Care Program,” which received a NAHC Innovations Award at last year’s ceremonies. The program was recognized for three key achievements - providing consistent high quality wound care; decreasing supply costs; and managing visit utilization.

On October 13, Judith Flynn, Vice President Patient Care Quality and Judith Arneson, New Graduate Internship Clinical Instructor will present on PHC’s “New Graduate Internship Program,” a year-long intensive education and training program that equipped new grad nurses with skills to lead successful careers in home care. This innovative program charters new territory, both for PHC and the industry, as the home care field has traditionally relied on recruiting nurses who acquired the clinical experience and critical thinking abilities gained in positions in acute care settings. This pilot program was designed to help PHC attract new nurses amidst the nursing shortage and equip them with skills for success.
