Hope Takes Flight in Partners Hospice 3rd Annual Butterfly Release
On June 3rd, as rain clouds threatened the skies above the serene campus of Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, more than one-hundred friends of Partners Hospice gathered at Wilson Chapel to honor the memory of loved ones.
The non-denominational service featured poems, inspirational stories, reflection, music and a presentation of the names of cherished family and friends. As the skies suddenly cleared following the service, guests proceeded outdoors to the beautiful quad to choose a spot to release their butterflies into the world.
“As the butterfly is symbolic of rebirth and new life, releasing a butterfly into the world represents a celebration of the lives of loved ones,” said Gary Garberg, Director of Partners Hospice. “The release offers both healing and hope as the community comes together to remember and honor family members and friends.”
The annual event raised close to $6,000 for Bereavement Services of Partners Hospice.
