In 1997, Ed Baker of Milton established the Anna Hughes Baker Award as a way to create a lasting legacy in honor of his mother. The award honors an outstanding Partners Home Care nurse on the agency's Milton Nursing Team who demonstrates Anna Baker's qualities, such as a concern for others, compassion, and giving of self. Julie Aubin, RN, from Weymouth received the award at a special reception that was held on May 30, 2006 in Braintree, headquarters of PHC's South Branch. Julie was chosen by her nursing colleagues for her compassion and loyalty to her patients. She began her career in health care after graduating from Curry College in Milton with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Her nursing career includes positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Quincy Medical Center and Gambro HealthCare. Just over a year ago, Julie joined Partners Home Care as a nurse on the Milton Team. Julie says she became a nurse to help people. She enjoys making a difference in her patients' lives and helping them feel secure during their transition home from the hospital. Deeply committed to her patients, Julie enjoys working in the home setting because she is able to take more time to sit and talk with her patients and build a stronger connection. She is considered by many to be a part of their family. "Julie offers her patients two very valuable qualities that would make Anna Baker proud," said Bernadette Bosco, Chief Operations Officer, Partners Home Care. "She gives her patients a sense of confidence that allows them to trust her and put them at ease. She also offers compassion, a quality that helps her patients feel well taken care of." Joining Julie at the Award Ceremony were Ed Baker and Louise Lintz of Milton, along with Julie's colleagues from Partners Home Care. When Julie is not caring for her patients, she enjoys spending time with her family. She has one son and two grandsons who live in Texas. She is able to visit them a couple of times a year and they also visit her home in Weymouth during the year. Julie said that she "enjoys watching her grandsons grow up over the Internet."
